What Makes Asgard Different

There are a lot of 10x servers, and on a server list most of them look about the same. Most of our work on Asgard went into the smaller settings, the kind you only notice after a few wipes somewhere else.

One grid square and a trio cap

The whole map fits inside a single grid square, and that shapes a wipe more than any other setting we picked. Gather is 10x, and as of this week every furnace type smelts 30x faster. Almost every blueprint is unlocked from the start, and /bps lists the few barricades, traps, turrets and external walls that stay locked.

Three players is the most any group can have. Everyone you play with or share a base with counts toward that cap, even if they never joined your team menu. Trading with other groups is allowed, and rotating teammates halfway through a wipe to dodge the cap counts as breaking the rule.

A new map every wipe

Every map is procedurally generated, and none of them come back for a second wipe. Each one gets our custom monuments and a sky spawn platform, and Launch Site sits out on its own island. About a day before each wipe we post four new maps in #map-vote on our Discord, people react with 1 to 4, and the winner becomes the next map. You need the Verified role to vote, which you get by linking Steam and Discord. If we had to cut everything else here, the map vote is the one part we would argue to keep.

Every map also has the Outpost, our own safe-zone town, and /outpost takes you there when you aren't blocked. It has a market with 9 shops, a casino, 2 recyclers, stables with free horses and a helipad.

Building with your team

Most of our base changes are about sharing things inside a team.

  • Teammates share TC auth, code locks and key locks automatically, and lose that access the moment they leave the team.
  • If you're authorized on the TC, you can craft at your base's best workbench level from anywhere in the building.
  • Large boxes stack, and a stacked box only breaks if the one under it is destroyed.
  • Everyone can place 4 tool cupboards counted across the whole team, and ranks raise that number.

Shared locks sound minor until you have read out a door code over voice chat for the fifth time in one night.

Bags and beds

Beds respawn you every 10 seconds and sleeping bags every 25. A freshly placed bag takes 5 minutes to become usable in vanilla, and here a new bag or bed is ready after 30 seconds. With a map this small, the fight you died in is often still going when you get back.

Loot and raids

Brown crates only have a small chance of a gun, and green military crates usually hold a gun and ammo, with grenades or a satchel now and then. We turned down the explosives in loot on purpose, because we think a raid should take some work. Raid block starts when explosives hit a base, yours or someone else's, and it lasts 5 minutes. While it runs you can't teleport, use the shop, take kits, build, repair or upgrade, though ladders still work. Combat block lasts 1 minute after a fight and stops teleports, the shop and kits.

Points

Everyone earns 2 points for every 30 minutes online, and points never wipe. You spend them in /shop, on anything from raid gear to the four one-time kits. There is also a 20-point sunrise that turns night into morning for everyone, and we admit that one is mostly there for fun.
