Your First Wipe: The First Hour on Asgard

Our map is one grid, so other groups are never far away once a wipe starts. We hand out free kits partly because of that, and a new player who grabs them all can build a proper base straight away.

Getting in and taking the free kits

Open Rust, hit Play, switch to the Modded tab and search ASGARD. If you prefer the F1 console, client.connect 91.229.114.137:28047 gets you in as well. You load in holding a metal hatchet, a pickaxe and a torch, and those tools come back every time you respawn.

Before doing anything else, type /kit starter in chat. That kit drops 10,000 wood, 5,000 metal fragments, a TC, a bed, a metal door and a code lock into your inventory, one time on each map. We'd also grab /kit bow early for the hunting bow, 32 arrows and 10 pumpkins, which you can take every 5 minutes up to 30 times a wipe.

The Discord kit

This is the biggest free kit on the server. It has a Thompson with 128 pistol ammo, roadsign armor, 3 syringes and a big pile of building materials, including 10,000 wood and 10,000 stone. To unlock it you link your Steam account to your Discord account on our website.

  • Go to asgardrust.gg and verify with Steam.
  • Sign in with Discord, and if you aren't in our Discord yet, it asks you to join.
  • Back in game, type /discord to collect the kit.

Each Discord account can link to only one Steam account, and once linked, the same command hands you the kit again whenever a new map goes up. You also get the Verified role in Discord, which lets you vote on the next map.

Base first

Try to have a TC and a door down within your first ten minutes, using the materials from both kits. Every blueprint is already unlocked apart from barricades, traps, turrets and external walls. All furnace types, plus campfires and the refinery, smelt 30x faster on Asgard than in vanilla Rust.

Everyone can place 4 tool cupboards, but that cap is shared across your whole team, and external TCs are not allowed at all. Type /limits to check your building limits, and if you put a wall in the wrong spot, turn on /remove and hit it with a hammer to take it back.

Teammates and respawns

Groups are capped at three people, online or offline, in the team menu or out of it. When you're on a team together, TC auth, code locks and key locks get shared on their own, and anyone who leaves loses that access. While authorized on the TC, you can craft at the level of the best workbench in the base from anywhere inside the building. Put a sleeping bag or bed down early on. A fresh one is ready 30 seconds after you place it, and after that beds respawn you every 10 seconds and bags every 25. Vanilla Rust makes a new bag wait 5 minutes, which always felt far too long to us on a map this small.

Points and raid block

You earn 2 points for every 30 minutes you're online, and points carry over from one wipe to the next. Check your balance with /rp and spend it in /shop on raid gear, weapons, meds, vehicle airdrops or the one-time kits. The Armory kit is the cheapest of those at 200 points, and we think it makes a good first thing to save for.

Raid block lasts 5 minutes after explosives hit your base or you blow into someone else's. During that time you can't build, place deployables or doors, repair, upgrade, teleport, use the shop or claim kits, although ladders still work. Combat block is shorter, lasting 1 minute after a fight, and it only stops teleports, the shop and kits.
